INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Understanding Test Scores and Data:

Post-assessment, professionals (whether medical providers or educators) review the results. The testing data will reveal relative information to academics and processing (math, reading, writing, etc.) and allow for data to be extrapolated from those assessments in order to determine where a student may be experiencing deficits or a below average ability. Testing data will also indicate where a student tests in at above average or superior. Decoding the testing data in a manner which allows professionals o identify where a student is excelling versus where a student is struggling, then allows that professional to explain the data to parents and families and at times even students in a way they can understand it. This process facilitates and understanding of how to develop a plan for supports and interventions to help students excel and achieve better scores in academic areas they may be struggling in. Testing data will also provide insight into whether a student may be struggling with something else, such as a disability or ASD. Psychometric Conversion Tables and Bell Curve Charts are great visuals to help explain testing data.
